Read this book on Ah Jo's recommendation. Quite a pretty nice book. The main story line is about how a top notch lawyer, Samantha Sweeting, from a top notch law firm realise on the day she is suppose to make partner to the firm that she has make a mistake in one of the contracts and ended up causing the client to loose 50 million pounds. Being someone who has never make mistakes and is always known as good, she felt lost when she knows about the mistake. So subsequently, she run away from London and stumble into a small town and was mistaken into a domestic housekeeper.
Being someone whose dream was to become a partner in the law firm, she never bother about life. She works 24/7 and is super stressed up. She never bothered about housework. Doesn't know how to cook. Don't even know how to fry an egg. So how is she going to be a domestic housekeeper? Well, you have to read the book yourself to find out. Anyway, while at the small town, she learn to slow down and really enjoy life. She slowly destresses herself and found someone she love.
In some way I think I'm similar with Samantha Sweeting. But in some way we are totally different. Like her, I used to be a workoholic. I use to work 24/7. But of course I'm not as bad as her. I still find time for myself. And obviously my work is not as stress up as hers. Like her I'm a time freak. I feel weird not knowing about time. This week my watch died on me and i feel weird not having a watch to check the timing.
For her, getting into Law school is a dream her mum impose on her. Like her going to NUS is a dream impose on me by my parents. I always tot going to NUS will be good for my future blah blah blah... but i learn to realise this is not the real case when i started working after my poly. However, I still went on to NUS, just to fulfill my parents dream. 2 years time and effort is all worth it when you see them beaming with pride on the convocation day.
But unlike her I'm not a messy person. I'm just the opposite. I dun understand how can anyone work with a messy desk. Dun you just feel fustrated seeing the desk so messy?? I mean doesn't it just spoils your mood when you see things in a mess? Okie maybe I'm a neat freak, but I just can't stand messy places. It affects my mood.
All in all its a nice book with a nice twist. Its just I know about the twist since Ah Jo has already told me about the book before. But its still nice to read although i already know the story line. Makes us really think whether is it time to slow ourselves down to enjoy life?
